Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account on SportsCarLog ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, you may not use the Service. We will ask you to explicitly accept these Terms when you create your account.

2. Description of Service

SportsCarLog is a free web application that lets car enthusiasts maintain a digital record of their vehicles. The Service includes:

• A digital garage to catalog your vehicles with full specs and details
• Maintenance and modification logging with receipt scanning
• Event tracking for track days, road trips, and car shows
• Photo galleries organized by vehicle
• Vehicle history reports (PDF export)
• VIN lookup and NHTSA recall alerts

3. Intended Use — Vehicle Ownership Requirement

SportsCarLog is designed exclusively for registered vehicle owners, their immediate family members, and individuals authorized by the owner to maintain records on their behalf (e.g., a personal assistant, mechanic, or collection manager). By using the Service, you agree that:

• You will only log vehicles that you personally own, lease, that are registered to an immediate family member in your household, or that you are explicitly authorized by the registered owner to manage.
• You will not use the Service to track, monitor, or compile records on vehicles without the knowledge and consent of the registered owner.
• You will not share your account credentials with unauthorized individuals.
• You will not export, download, or share vehicle history reports for vehicles that you are not authorized to manage by the registered owner.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these ownership requirements.

4. Account Registration and Security

• You must provide a valid email address to create an account.
• You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account, including any passkeys or linked Google accounts.
• Each account is for individual or household use only. Account sharing with people outside your household is not permitted.
• You must notify us immediately if you become aware of any unauthorized use of your account.

5. Your Content

You retain ownership of all data you enter into SportsCarLog, including vehicle details, maintenance records, event logs, photos, and receipt images ("Your Content"). By using the Service, you grant us a limited license to store, process, and display Your Content solely to provide the Service to you.

You are responsible for the accuracy and legality of Your Content. You agree not to upload content that is illegal, harmful, or infringes on the rights of others.

6. AI-Powered Receipt Processing

The Service uses Google's Gemini AI to extract text from receipt images you upload. When you upload a receipt:

• The image is sent to Google's Gemini API for processing.
• Google processes the image to extract text and does not retain it beyond the API request.
• The extracted data is stored in your account for your use.

By using the receipt scanning feature, you consent to this processing.

7. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to other users' accounts or data
• Interfere with or disrupt the Service or its infrastructure
• Use automated scripts, bots, or scrapers to access the Service
• Upload malicious files or content designed to exploit the Service
• Use the Service to stalk, harass, or collect information about vehicle owners without their knowledge

8. Privacy

Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect, use, and protect your personal information. By accepting these Terms, you also acknowledge that you have read and understand our Privacy Policy.

9. Service Availability

SportsCarLog is provided as a free service. We strive to keep it available and reliable, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may:

• Perform maintenance that temporarily makes the Service unavailable
• Modify or discontinue features at any time
• Impose usage limits if necessary to maintain service quality

10. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not warrant that:

• The Service will meet your specific requirements
• The Service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free
• The results from AI receipt scanning will be accurate or complete
• Any defects in the Service will be corrected

11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, SportsCarLog and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of profits, or business interruption, arising out of or related to your use of the Service.

12. Account Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account at any time if you violate these Terms, including but not limited to the vehicle ownership requirements in Section 3. You may also delete your account at any time by contacting us.

Upon termination, your data will be deleted in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by posting a notice within the Service or by email. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

14. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States, without regard to conflict of law principles.
